The Mazda GLC debuted in America in 1977 as a rear-wheel-drive hatchback that shared many parts with the rotary-engined RX-3. It initially had a 52-hp, 1.3-liter four-cylinder mated to a four-speed manual.
After owning and loving a Mazda GLC wagon, the MPV wagon was a disappointment to us. It wasn't a lemon, but more things went wrong with it than I expected from a Mazda.
They both blend style, efficiency and driving dynamics in a way not seen since first generation VW Golfs and the Mazda GLC. The Mazda 2 was named "World Car of the Year" in 2008 for good reason. Both cars raise the bar for the segment.
