Mercedes C-Class sales have increased four fold over the past decade, and it doesn't take a degree in marketing to understand why. The C-Class appeals to buyers because it offers a range of models at attractive prices.
Mercedes calls it a coupe and it certainly looks like a coupe, but an interesting twist to the CLS is that it has four doors. Now you could buy (for a mere $84,600) an E500 sedan and save about $7-grand.

Mercedes charges $59,950 for an E500 4Matic Wagon, a number that can escalate another six or seven grand when it's fully kitted out (as ours was at $66,760--destination and gas-guzzler charges included). Big bucks? You bet.
Mercedes claims the new C is at least 12 percent stiffer than the old chassis, partially a result of the C being the first in Mercedes-Benz history essentially designed, developed and validated by computer.

Our Mercedes C300 Sport vs. Our Cadillac CTS
I just spend 2,400 miles driving out long-term 2008 Cadillac CTS from Detroit to Los Angeles. Then I just drove our long-term 2008 Mercedes C300 Sport for the weekend. Which do I prefer?
The Mercedes C-Class is similar in size to the Audi A4. Two-door coupes seat four people, while four-door sedans and wagons will hold five.

FINALLY! As a Mercedes CLK owner I am dissapointed that there will be no AMG version of the new E-Class coupe.
This is an "IN" for Cadillac. A coupe that has the performance of a Corvette - and then some. Right ON!

The X-Type finds itself in a tough market up against rivals including the BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and Mercedes C class - but serves up its own individual style with sporty engines, well-engineered handling and distinctive appeal.
The second generation of the Mercedes compact two-seater also boasts an exquisite overall design, several details of which take their cue from Formula 1 racing cars.
This was clearly designed to fire a shot across the bow the recently introduced Hyundai Sonata, which has the attractive curves of a smaller Mercedes CLS or VW CC and is priced starting under $20,000.

Test drivers find that although the Audi S6 offers a wonderful, sporty driving experience, it's still out performed by its BMW and Mercedes competitors.
I have previously owned BMW 3 series and Mercedes C180 and had major mechanical problems with both cars from new. Absolutely no problems with the Toyota.

Average. The newest addition to the Mercedes Coupe family isn't quite the revelation we'd hoped for. But it is a stylish and relatively inexpensive entry-point into Mercedes Benz ownership
Summary ...
They're a nice touch and add a sense of common Mercedes controls to the M-Class; except for the fact they are in matte-black plastic instead of the satin metal finish found in other Mercedes vehicles.
But the Citaro buses from DaimlerChrysler, and the A-Class F-Cell Mercedes cars (below), going out into full passenger work next year are the first mass production vehicles to exploit the motive power of tomorrow.
