Quick Summary
Not Recommended. This curiously impractical 4x4 MPV will appeal to Mercedes badge-snobs, but almost nobody else.
Mercedes recently provided an altogether different experience, allowing journalists to drive AMG models in a safe setting and learn more about the cars than we ever could on public roads.
Mercedes recently announced a range of upgrades for the S-Class - many of them safety-related - which should keep the car well in the hunt in the ongoing battle with its two prime rivals, the BMW 7-Series and Audi A8.
Mercedes really has an uphill battle in the small premium sedan segment. BMW has the 3-series and its legendary driver involvement. Audi suddenly has the best interior and exterior designs as well as powerful and efficient engines.
Mercedes reports identical 0-60 mph times of 7.9 seconds for the both the ML320 diesel and the ML350. Yet that doesn't tell the whole story, because in short bursts the diesel actually accelerates more quickly.
Mercedes really fudged these cars up !
Chrysler was the sales leader for converts..from the 1980's/early 90's LeBaron,then the award winning Sebring Conv of 1996-2006,and most were to private individuals !

The Mercedes roadsters have seats for only two in a luxurious cockpit crowned by a sleek hardtop that, at the tap of a console switch, folds through electro-hydraulic muscle and tucks below the trunk lid.

In many ways, the Mercedes R-Class is a terrific road trip vehicle. With its V8 engine, it's fast, but also surefooted with its full-time four-wheel drive. It's also roomy, whether you have people or cargo to carry.

The Luxury models most closely replicate traditional Mercedes ride quality. Their ride is almost cushy, but it's well damped, so there's no floaty, sea-craft feeling over dips in the road.
Reviewers like the 2011 Mercedes R-Class’ car-like performance. Just remember that it's engineered for comfort rather than excitement. The only sticking point is its base fuel economy rating, which is one of the worst in its class.

The S-Class four-door spans a wide gulf at the top of the Mercedes range. The biggest Benz sedan-short of the princely Maybach 57 and 62-the S-Class spills over the $90,000 mark in its least expensive form and more than doubles that in AMG tune.
The 4Matic uses a single speed double planetary gear system that allocates the power split 65/35 percent between the rear and the front differential during normal driving to give the car a more traditional Mercedes rear wheel drive feel.
It also retains all the luxury you could expect in a Mercedes roadster, too, with an expanse of leather and the electric leather seats cosseting me as the car launched forwards.
It is designed and built specifically by AMG for several models in the Mercedes range.
The CLS 350 and CLS 500 have a 7-speed automatic transmission. The CLS 55 features mercedes renowned five speed automatic gearbox that can be shifted manually or automatically.
The center panels of the new seats are covered in a synthetic suede-like material Mercedes refers to as DINAMICA.The bolsters are covered in M-B Tex for easier entry and exit, plus better wear resistance.
