The MG F and this new one are, of course, mid-engined, and the motor is behind the shoulders. So when you let the revs climb (and you really should do so to get the best out of the engine), there is quite a throaty roar around the ears.
8-litre VVC TF 160, which replaces the previous 145 PS MG F at the head of a 4-model hierarchy that starts with the 1.6-litre TF 115. (The 'new' 160 PS engine actually made a brief appearance in the MG F line-up in the Trophy 160 SE).
I passed my test and bought an MG F which I hated and only kept for 3 weeks before buying the 206cc. After driving the MG this felt like a tank.
At its release in 1995, the MG F was fast, practical, stylish and technically advanced, owing more than a nod to Rover's previous collaborator Honda.
The chassis rights were purchased by Specialist Automotive who are looking to produce Costin Sports Roadsters in limited numbers using some mechanical parts from the Rover MG F.
