1966-1974 MG Midget MkIII, 65 hp (48 kW) at 6000 rpm and 72 lbfÂ-ft (98 NÂ-m) at 3000 rpm
1967-1968 MG 1300/Wolseley 1300, 58 hp (43 kW) at 5250 rpm and 69 lbfÂ-ft (94 NÂ-m) at 3000 rpm ...

My first MX5, but my second soft top (previously owned an MG Midget). I live out in the sticks in Somerset... Compared to other cars I drive (BMW 5 series to Peugeot Estate), it’s not brilliant at most things.

Sort of a MG Midget with four-wheel drive and the reliability of a Toyota, something a MG can only dream about. I had an MGB and I know that a full set of tools was a required accessory along with a Triple A card.

Actually, a pair of them: the hatchback, targa-topped Roadster Coup and the notchback, convertible Roadster. And guess what? The new Smart is a real car--sort of a modern-day MG Midget--with real-car performance.

When Tom Day came to replace his classic MG Midget, he was adamant that his next car would have to offer as much character and driver appeal.
