That's because Volvo's finally replaced the (ironically-named) Mitsubishi Carisma doppelganger with something more befitting the brand. As here in T5 guise, that means 'out' with the 1.
Here, finally, was an entry-level Volvo that looked like a Volvo--and not a re-badged Mitsubishi. Our test S40 even came clad in a trick-looking sport package, replete with rear wing, a modified front spoiler with foglamps and 17-in. wheels.
I remember when Honda, Nissan and Chrysler/Mitsubishi offered these vehicles 25 years ago and people just didn't seem to get it. Of course, back then Minivans were actually "mini" so perhaps the utility wasn't as obvious.
With Kia, Honda, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Nissan all offering a decent range of small and mid-size motors, many of which are positively bulging with eco-credentials, why would anyone with half a brain be interested in a Ssangyong?
The Land Cruiser majors on quality alongside cars like the Mitsubishi Shogun and Nissan Pathfinder, but it isn't cheap. However, fleets could find it slightly less expensive to run than six-cylinder alternatives.

Agreed. Only difference here is that the C63 has about a gazillion times the class and looks at least a few thousand times better than even the new Evo, and I'm a fan of Mitsubishis. I mean, holy friggin' goodness....
