Opel Vectra OPC: Concept Car with High Performance Turbo-Diesel
This year´s Essen Motor-Show (November 28 to December 7, 2003) will host a spectacular world premiere.
There are people who find the look of the new Opel Vectra a bit bland, some even say heavy. I have to say that I like it. Maybe it appeals to the part of me that likes the look of a solid car.

The Malibu's underwhelming duds hide the Epsilon architecture that is shared with the Opel Vectra and the Saab 9-3. The structure is solid, its rigidity enhanced by the extensive use of high-strength steel and a magnesium cross-dash beam.
After 1997, the Apollo name continued, on a version of the Opel Vectra (1988-95) design. It was offered as a four-door saloon or five-door hatchback. A choice of 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0-litre 4-cylinder and 2.5-litre V6 engines were on offer.
The large Saturns leverage General Motors' European interests with some components from the Opel Vectra. But they are in no way Opels badge-engineered into Saturn clothing.
Although it's essentially an Opel Vectra, Saturn's new four-door sedan is probably the most appealing of its New York offerings. Yes, it's no Saturn Sky Red Line, but that's beside the point; it's not supposed to be.

The EcoTec 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is from the same double overhead-cam engine family used in the Saab 9-3, Opel Vectra and Chevrolet Malibu. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is rated 169 horsepower, 162 pound-feet of torque.

This edition of the Malibu shares its underpinnings with the other GM cars mounted on the Epsilon front-drive platform, including the new Saab 9-3, the new Saturn Aura, the Pontiac G6, the European-market Cadillac BLS, and the German Opel Vectra.
The Malibu and its Malibu Maxx stable-mate are the first North American applications of General Motors' Epsilon global architecture, which also provides the foundation for the new Saab 9-3 and Opel Vectra.
They included the Cadillac Catera (1997-2001) an Opel Omega clone; the Saturn Astra (2008-2009), a rebadged Opel Astra; the Saturn Aura (2008-2009), aka Opel Vectra; and the Saturn Vue SUV (2008), a version of the Opel Antara.
