Tried selecting first in manual mode but no response eventually called the RAC who disconnected the battery but this did not cure the problem so the vehicle had to towed to Yeomans of Plymouth, the citroen dealer.
Well, Plymouth lost so much of its appeal that Chrysler closed it down a few years ago.

Yeah, I get it; we've heard the merits of a budget muscle car since the days of the Plymouth Road Runner.
Another trip Wimbledon to Plymouth, then Santander - Segovia - Burgos - Chinchon - Toledo - Consuegra - Denia. Brilliant little car. Just enough power to overtake, but not too much to get you into trouble. And fantastic balance.
You would've thought a retro reissue of Hitler's people's car would've fallen down the same rat hole that swallowed-up the mustachioed Plymouth Prowler, Chevrolet's WTF SSR and Ford's turkey T-bird. But no.
The Ford Mustang defined the pony-car segment in 1964; Plymouth's Barracuda may have beaten Ford to the showroom by 16 days, but it was the Mustang that set the sales records.
