It is built on a revised version of the long-wheelbase Epsilon platform shared with the Saturn Aura and Pontiac G6. It is assembled in Kansas City and also at Lake Orion, Michigan alongside the Pontiac G6.
Six good things we can report about the 2005 Pontiac G6:
* The G6 rides on a 112.3-inch wheelbase, which means there's 5.3 more inches between the front and rear axles.
It is not fair to compare it to a Pontiac G6 or a Ford Mustang as it is more of a luxury convertible vs. a sport convertible. The interior is sleek and simple, complemetary to it's exterior design.
The Fusion is reminiscent of the Mitsubishi Galant and Pontiac G6. The Fusion shares some interior parts such as part of the console and seats with the otherwise unrelated European Mondeo.
One thing the two have in common is their underskin design, which they share with the Pontiac G6 and the premium-compact 9-3 models from GM's Saab brand. In other words, they are built upon a quality foundation.

The big dash accommodates many electronic wonders and dozens of airbags, but it results in an interior with a certain bunker-like feel. It's not bad compared to, say, a Pontiac G6.
