Sir Clive Sinclair had a vision of the C5, it was not a commercial success, but thats probably because the environment (in many ways) was not conjucive to its success at the time... The idea was sound though then and even more sound now! ...
Had it not been for one man, Robert Sinclair, then president of Saab-Scania of America, the Saab convertible might not have happened until some time later - or not at all.
Other, perhaps more familiar, disasters include the Sinclair C5 and the A303, not to mention ITV4, which daily provides immutable proof that TV is going to the dogs.

What they should have done was look at the last attempt to do this: the Sinclair C5 was launched with similar hype and promises, just applying technology to a problem which didn't exist hasn't made the solution any more world altering.
