June 6, 2003 -- There's not many a driver who would turn down the opportunity to spend a day at Mosport testing one of the newest and most powerful vehicles on the road.

Subaru's engineers took advantage of the wider fenders and increased the WRX's track (the distance between the left- and right-side wheels) by 35 mm (1.4 in.) at the front and 40 mm (1.6 in.) at the rear.

Subaru's all-new range of Subaru Legacy and Outback vehicles is aimed directly at leading prestige European marques.

Subaru of America, Inc. has restyled its Impreza line for 2006 and in addition given the all-conquering 300-horsepower WRX STI model several performance enhancements.

Subarus are supposed to be the Birkenstock sandal of the automotive world; simple, robust cars with a certain sense of style that doesn't care about current fads.

This just in: the ride quality, as sampled from the back seat of the WRX STI, borders on nausiating.

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI has a strong — one might say rather rabid — following. On the order of Celtics and Lakers fans. We have a colleague here who regularly flies the Subaru flag via his WRX T-shirts and baseball caps. And why not?

There is simply nothing really bad that can be said about Subaru's Legacy GT; it's a nicely put-together ride with a great powerplant, good brakes and honest-to-goodness enthusiast-oriented handling. The only knock is price, and that's a tough nut.
