Later chassis plans were made so it could be built using parts from Triumph Spitfire, Vitesse, or GT6. Over 6000 copies of the plans were sold resulting in an estimated 500 cars built.
I too have had my share of two seater sports cars - 2 MGBs, 1 Triumph Spitfire and the MX5 1.8I is better than any of them. Yes, it might be underpowered but who needs power today with all the speed cameras etc.
