The 2008 VW Phaeton marks Volkswagen's entry into the luxury car market. Available in the V8 and W12 trims, the 2008 VW Phaeton is capable of accommodating 4 or 5 passengers.
The VW Phaeton was the answer to a question no one asked: who wants to buy a $70k Volkswagen? Marketing mishegos aside, "Piech's folly" is a superb car: relatively quick, preposterously quiet and completely comfortable.
The VW Phaeton has value and discretion on its side, but next to the big boys of the luxury car class, it struggles.

Based on a modified VW Phaeton chassis, the Continental GT and Flying Spur were the success stories of the new century, raising the company's sales to almost 9,000 a year and breathing life into the Crewe factory.
