With the increase in flextime and telecommuting, traditional employment is becoming less traditional. But, if you're looking for even more flexibility you may want to consider working as an independent contractor.

A better attendance strategy may simply include flextime for people who have children or parental responsibilities. Some businesses give their employees 5 personal days in addition to normal vacation times to be used any way the person sees fit.

You may also need to modify your policies and procedures for part-time work. Retired Boomers may want a different kind of flextime than younger workers.
