Screening interviews are usually undertaken by HR / Personnel staff or by third party recruiters like me.

 


The Screening Interview
Companies use screening tools to ensure that candidates meet minimum qualification requirements. Computer programs are among the tools used to weed out unqualified candidates.

Screening interviews are useful in short-listing candidates for group selections. For a senior job group selection, screening interviews and psychometric assessments are recommended to shortlist candidates.

Screening Interview
Interviewer is usually a member of the Human Resources Department and will ask you questions in a straight question-and-answer format. It is used to weed out unqualified candidates, and to look for inconsistencies in your resume.

Telephone Screening Interview
This interview saves the employer time by eliminating candidates based on essential criteria such as employment objective, education or required skills.

Screening Interviews - This kind of interview is used to decide which of a number of candidates are most suitable for the position. Unsuitable candidates are eliminated during this phase.

Promising résumés lead to a screening interview, usually by phone. Those who pass muster get a "fly back," a trip to Microsoft's Redmond, Washington, headquarters for a full-day marathon of famously difficult interviews.

On the opposite end of the stress spectrum from screening interviews is the informational interview.

The company-site interview may be scheduled after successfully passing the on-campus screening interview, a phone interview, or it may be the first and subsequent interviews that result from contacting off-campus employers.

The first interview may be a screening interview that could be conducted over the phone or at the place of employment. Screening interviews are rather brief, usually lasting 15-30 minutes.

Phone interviews are conducted as screening interviews to determine which candidates to invite to interview in-person.

Finally, it is important to remember that an HR job interview is typically used as a screening interview. This means that a human resources representative is only trying to determine whether you have the basic skills to perform the position or not.
