Atopy or (inhalant allergy) is by far the most common cause of allergies in dogs. Many of these pets suffer from intense itching and usually have a seasonal pattern initially, but it may turn into a year-round problem.

When a cat inhales house dust, pollen, or mold, an allergic reaction may follow. As a result, they may display redness, itchiness, inflammation in the ear, and hair loss.

The most common types of allergies in pets are flea allergy, food allergy, and a condition called atopy.
