The Balinese cat requires far less grooming than a Himalayan, as their hair is not as fluffy. Many Siamese cats are very talkative, but not the Balinese. They are quiet by nature, but very intelligent.

The Javanese has been named after the island of Java because it sounds fanciful and because it possesses so many of the same physical characteristics as the Balinese cat (Java is the next island over from Bali).
The name Javanese was chosen since this name was already used in Europe for Oriental Longhairs. It does, however. Clash with the American Javanese which refers to red, tortie and tabby Balinese cats.
