British Angora
See Oriental Longhair. Brazilian Shorthair
The Brazilian Shorthair is descended from domestic cats brought over to Brazil by European colonists. It is a medium-sized cat, and comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

British Angora - it is similar in both temperament and type to the Oriental breeds - lively, inquisitive, and long and lean, with a tail that forms a delightfully elegant plume. This energetic exhibitionist originated in Britain in the l970s.

The British Angora is known elsewhere as Javanese (reflecting its links to the Balinese), Oriental Longhair and Mandarin. It may also have been the ancestor of the American Tiffany/Chantilly.

In 2002, the British Angora was renamed Oriental Longhair by British cat fancies. This avoided confusion with the Turkish Angora.

If you are looking for a cat who can amuse himself and will not get into constant mischief, then the Sphynx, Siamese, Rex, Balinese, and British Angora breeds may be a bad choice. These cats are very inquisitive and energetic.
