Cameo Colors
Shell Cameo: the undercoat should be ivory white. The coat on back, flanks, head and tail should be sufficiently tipped with red to give the characteristic sparkling appearance.

COAT COLOUR: Ground colour including lips and chin, pale ivory. Markings are red or cream diminishing in intensity of colour approaching the roots of the hair. Clarity of markings takes precedence over depth of tipping.

An American Shorthair is not considered fully grown until 3-4 years old, when it attains the true strong athletic proportion of its breed. Males are usually larger than females and whole males have definite jowls.
Shaded and Tipped American Wirehairs: Shaded Silver, Shaded Cameo, Chinchilla Silver, Shell Cameo. The Shaded and Tipped are similar to the Smokes, but a greater proportion of the length of each hair is the paler colour.

MOST EXPENSIVE: The best lineage makes for the most expensive. It seems that "cameos" (shell and shaded - see CFA definition of this color) are one of the rarest colors with white and black.
The divisions incorporate the solid, shaded silvers, shaded goldens, cameos, and chinchillas. Also seen are smoke and tabby tortoiseshell and particular or bicolor. There are also shaded versions of the solid colors.
The Smoke Persian has a long flowing coat and a profuse ruff. "Smokes" are magnificent looking. Colors include (smoked) black, blue, cameo (red), tortoiseshell and blue-cream. The eyes are a brilliant copper.
