A cat association is a group that registers cats and kittens, chooses cat-show judges, and schedules cat shows. The largest of these groups is the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA), which registers more than 80,000 cats and kittens each year.
Most cat associations do not allow early generation, F1, F2, F3 Bengals to be shown, and they are not regarded as being suitable as pets.
Domestic generation Bengals (known as SBT Bengals) are four or more generations away from the Asian Leopard Cat.
Some cat associations, such as TICA, make no distinction between Balinese and Javanese, and in these associations both Balinese and Javanese are categorized as Balinese.

The Traditional Cat Association, founded by Diana Fineran, is dedicated to preserving, protecting, perpetuating, and promoting the Traditional Siamese.
The International Cat Association (TICA) is the largest cat breed organization in Europe and it has members and clubs in Latin America, North America, Asia, Europe and Africa and continues to grow all around the world.
The International Cat Association defines the Bengal as at least a fourth-generation descendant of a crossing between the wild Asian Leopard Cat and a domestic cat. The first three foundation crosses are identified as F1s, F2s and F3s.
The International Cat Association (TICA) accepted the Selkirk Rex into its New Breed program in 1990 and recognized it for championship competition in February of 1994.

Siamese come in four or more colors, depending upon the cat association to which you belong. The CFA recognizes four Siamese colors: seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac point (called frost in some associations).
It was recognized in 1974 by the Canadian Cat Association and in 1978 by the C.F.A. Popular in the United States, the Tonkinese remains rare in Europe.
