In 1968 CFF was the first to accept the Egyptian Mau. CCA soon followed, and the CFA granted Championship in 1977. Today, all major associations accept the Mau.

In 1974, the Cat Fanciers' Foundation (CFF) and the American Cat Association accepted the Snowshoe as an experimental breed. It was still slow work, however.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Jim Hoffman of Sujym Cattery in Defiance, Ohio and Georgia Kuhnell from Cincinnati, Ohio, independently contacted CFF for information on the Snowshoe breed.
Tommy Meadow, a former CFF judge and Abyssinian and Burmese breeder active in the cat fancy since 1955, wrote a standard for the breed and began a breeding program to weed out undesirable traits and produce consistency in color, coat, pattern, ...
Solid chocolate and solid lavender Persians are known the Kashmir in CFF. It is still called by this breed name in some older cat breed books. CFF also makes a distinction between the Persian and the Pekefaced Persian.

Some say there is a Chinese tapestry depicting a longhair, an 1871 Penny Illustrated magazine contains a reference to a longhaired Siamese, and we find a CFF registration record for one in 1928.

A Siamese with long hair was registered with CFF in 1928, but no one began a serious effort to establish the breed until the 1940s. At that time, several breeders began working with the longhaired cats born in purebred Siamese litters.
Associations: The Siberian is accepted in AACE, ACA, ACFA, CFF, and TICA for championship. The Siberian is accepted in CFA in the miscellaneous class.

The Cat Fanciers Federation (CFF) had a longhair Siamese (which is what Balines actually are and what they were originally called) registered in 1928. However, the history starts later, in the 1950's, when true breeding programmes were established.
Only the Ruddy, Red, Fawn and Blue colors are recognized by CFA, AACE, ACFA or CFF however, Silver is now recognized by TICA and Cream and Lilac are accepted by ACA. Ruddy is the most popular color.
They may also be registered with TICA (since 1985), ACFA, CFF, UFO, CCA (Canadian), and in various European associations.
Because of the occasional Traditional Russian Blue used in their ancestry, once in a while lavender kittens can be produced. This frost grey with a pinkish tone is accepted in TICA and CFF. Since TCA, Inc.
The Nebelung is a characteristic and elegant cat breed which is just beginning to be recognized by breeders. The Nebelung is currently accepted in CFF, TICA and TCA, and as a provisional breed in Catz.
