Chromosomes
The first generation hybrid offspring have 37 chromosomes. 19 of the chromosomes come from the Domestic Cat and the remainder from the Geoffroy's Cat.

Chromosomes: Cell elements that control inherited characteristics.
Chronic disease: An indefinitely disease
Cinnamon: Rich dark brownish red color.

Sex chromosomes define gender. There are two sex chromosomes (stands to reason, what?), designated X and Y. Each parent contributes one sex chromosome, and these determine the gender of offspring.

HOMOLOGOUS CHROMOSOMES - Chromosomes occurring in pairs, one from each
parent, at the same locus on the chromosome.
HOMOZYGOUS - Having an identical pair of alleles for a particular characteristic. (A/A, a/a).

The cat has 38 chromosomes consisting of 18 identical pairs and one pair that is different.

Black and orange coat colors are carried on the same chromosomes that determine gender, specifically on the X chromosome. Females have two X chromosomes and so can carry orange on one and black on the other, and exhibit both colors.

Directly related would indicate identical Y-Chromosomes or limited Marker match testing. Therefore, Pixie-Bob are legally designated as domestic cats, even if they might have Bobcat heritage.

Females of all species have two X chromosomes and males an X and Y chromosome. If both X chromosomes carry the Red gene, then the cat will be Red.

Cells do not always divide correctly, so sometimes instead of an XX or XY sex chromosome pairing, the kitten ends up with three chromosomes. For instance, such a kitten may have XXY.

Sexual development disorders in cats can occur due to errors in the genetic coding, involving chromosomes responsible for the development of the sex organs - including the gonads (the male and female reproductive organs), ...

Autosomal Set - The non-sex chromosomes consisting of one from each homologous pair.
Autozygous - Homozygous for a gene and the homologous genes are identical by descent (both alleles have descended from a single allele in an ancestor).

" The black-orange (or blue-cream) color-determining genes are linked to the female sex chromosomes.

The embryos do not have sex chromosomes, and sex is not determined genetically. Rather, sex is determined by temperature - mostly males are produced at around 31.6 degrees C, with more females produced at slightly lower and higher temperatures.

The red gene must be on one X chromosome and the non-red gene on the other. Since typical females have two X chromosomes and typical males have one X chromosome and one Y chromosome, it is obvious why this pattern is rarely seen in males.
