Colorpoint Shorthairs are the scintillating relatives of the Siamese.

Colorpoint Shorthair Domestic House Cat
Colorpoint Shorthairs are the first cousins of the Siamese domestic house cat. This breed is distinguished by its elegance in sixteen different "point" colors beyond the four Siamese colors.

Colorpoint Shorthair is the name the CFA use to refer to cats of Siamese type in colours other than seal, chocolate, blue, or lilac point (the "traditional" colours).

Colorpoint Shorthair
The Colorpoint Shorthair has the Siamese personality and body type, and appears in red point, cream point, lynx (tabby) point, and tortie point colors.

Colorpoint: Cat¹s face, ears, tail and legs pattern.

Colorpoint - In this pattern, the face, paws and tail (tips/points) are of a darker color than the rest of the body. This pattern is actually temperature-related - the cooler parts of the body develop a darker color.

Mitted: dark points on mask, ears, tail, legs; feet are white;
Bi-color: dark points on mask, ears, tail; legs and feet are white.

Mask, ears, legs, paws and tail are colored in one of the varieties mentioned below. The body is a little bit lighter than the Point color. Collar and bib are even lighter. Nose and paw pads have different colors in each variety.

Colorpoint Pattern: The coat pattern in which the body is a light color and the extremities (ears, face, paws, and tail) are a dark color.

A colorpoint Ragdoll has darker points ears, tail, face, and feet, with a lighter body shade. The nose leather and paw pads match the color of its points.

After the war, colorpoint Persian blood was added to limit inbreeding. In 1950, the breed was named Chat sacré de Birmanie (Birman in English) in order to avoid any confusion with "Burmese", the adjective form of the word Burma.

Overlayed on the colorpoint coloring and points is the effect of the piebald gene or white spotting gene that causes the white spotting. This gene has the symbol S.
