The Coupari is extremely docile and affectionate. It loves interacting with humans and is saddened if left alone. In fact, the cat will become vocal and demand for attention on occasion, even rubbing against a leg for a quick pet.

Longhair Scottish Folds are known as Coupari (after their place of origin, Coupar Angus) in the UK and Highland Fold in the USA (although Coupar Angus is not in the Highlands).

ACFA, AACE, and UFO refer to the breed as the Highland Fold. TICA, NCFA, ACA, CCA, and CFA call the breed the Scottish Fold Longhair, and CFF refers to the breed as the Longhair Fold. Canadian breeders also call it the Coupari.
One of them was bred to then found the line of the existing breed. The characteristic folded ears are a result of a dominant gene. The Scottish Fold cat is also known as the Highland Fold, Scottish Fold Longhair and Coupari.
ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association) may still refer to the longhair Scottish Fold as the Highland Fold, in CFA they are simply referred to as the Longhair Scottish Fold. In some areas, such as England, the Highland Fold was known as the Coupari.
