Peterbald is a cross-breed between Don Sphynx and oriental-typed cats, St. Peterburg, Russia, in 1994, and not based on a direct natural mutation.
Under Burmese is missing: there are American Burmese and European Burmese, see CFA, CCA, LOOF.

Cross-breed The combination of two pedigree varieties. Dense A thick, full coat. Dome A rounded forehead. Frill The fur around the head that is brushed up to form a frame for the cat's face.

The first Snowshoes appeared in the 1960s in America, as a result of cross-breeding between a Siamese and a bi-colored American Shorthair. The ears are large and triangular. The head will also be triangular and usually has black markings.

In the 1960s, the breed first came into being after cross-breeding between the Siamese and American Shorthair. As more and more breeders emerged, the Snowshoe was officially recognised in 1982.

The Bengal was developed by cross-breeding of domestic cats with and Asian leopard cat in the 1960's, by American geneticist Jean Sugden.

Some assert that cross-breeding with the American Shorthair has given them a more lively, boisterous, mischievous side, and many stay playful even into old age. However, like Persians, they also tend to be gentle and easy going.

Breeders then began cross-breeding with Siamese to move the body type closer to the Siamese. In 1972 Peter Markstein and Vicky Markstein (Petmark Cattery) visited England looking for new Siamese breeds.

Due to declining numbers of Russian Blues, dedicated fanciers started cross-breeding them with Blue Point Siamese, in a genuine effort to preserve the breed.

However, two things seems sure, (a) the spotted coat has uniquely been acquired naturally (i.e. without our interference through cross-breeding) and (b) this cat is a very old established domestic cat breed.

Withhold certificates for definite nose stop, long or woolly coat, body too cobby or too slender, any appearance of cross-breeding (hybrid).

So-called Cabbits are almost certainly either Manx or cats exhibiting Manx trait. Cross-breeding between rabbits and cats is genetically impossible; these are two different species are too distantly related. Click here for a great Cabbit article.

The Savannah cat breed is a relatively new and rare cat breed. The Savannah breed has been developed by cross-breeding domestic cats with Servals.

The Mau soon caught the eye of cat lovers who wanted to preserve this unique and ancient breed. But because of the small gene pool, a certain amount of cross-breeding became inevitable.
