Demodex is a mite that infects both cats and dogs. Demodectic mange, also called demodicosis, is fairly common in dogs, but is much less common in cats.

Demodex cati and gatoi spp of ectoparasites are similar to the species common in dogs, but cats develop disease much less commonly.

Demodicosis, or mange, is an inflammatory skin disease in cats that is caused by various types of Demodex mites not visible to the naked eye.

Demodectic mange is an inflammatory skin condition caused by microscopic mites of the genus Demodex. These mites are transmitted from mother dogs and cats to their puppies or kittens during nursing and become normal inhabitants of the hair follicles.
