Double Coat - Refers to a cat having two thick coats in one, comprising a soft undercoat of thick, short hairs, and another set of coarser, slightly longer hairs. (eg., as seen in a Manx.)

The double coat is heavy and bushy.

The coat comes in all colorpoints with or without markings. The eyes are blue.

Double coat of the shorthair does best with occasional brushing. Longhair needs weekly combing and benefits from regular bathing.

The double coat is medium length, of soft texture and extremely fine with at least two or three bands of ticking on each hair. A well developed ruff and breeches give a full coated appearance to the cat.

The soft double coat feels fine and silky. It's blue and may be tipped with silver. Males and, to a lesser extent, females have a ruff around the neck. The fur on the tail is longer than that on the body.
