Elizabethan Collars
While dogs will often eat the drain, cats usually leave them lying around (probably to annoy the owner). Some cats remove the sutures on their own several days after a surgical procedure. This could be a problem.

Elizabethan Collar: A type of hood in the shape of a cone which is worn around the neck to keep animals from irritating an injury.
Endogenous: Originating or produced within an organism, tissue, or cell: endogenous secretions.

Elizabethan Collar: a cone shaped hood worn around the neck to prevent animals from irritating an injury
Entire (cat): not neutered or altered
Euthanasia: Painless killing, commonly called destruction, putting down, or putting to sleep ...

This may require the use of an Elizabethan collar.
Keeping bandages clean and dry and changing the the bandages as directed by your veterinarian. This may be as often as 2 or 3 times a day initially.

An Elizabethan collar (cone) is placed on the cat to prevent the cat from licking at the surgical site until the sutures are removed. The cat should have newspaper or newspaper pellets in the litterbox instead of litter until the sutures are removed.

Equipment Brushes (pure bristle is best as it creates little static); combs; shampoo; grooming powders; cotton wool; ear plugs; Elizabethan collar; towels; bran; surgical spirit; silk cloth; chamois leather cloth.

Consult your vet if your cat starts pulling at its stitches. You might, in persistent cases, need to get an elizabethan collar to prevent the cat from reaching the stitches.
