Infertile

Infertile: Not fertile; unproductive or barren.
Inflammation: A localized protective reaction of tissue to irritation, injury, or infection, characterized by pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes loss of function.

A friend produced an infertile male blue torti point once though. The boys in most of those litters were red and red Lynx points.

F1 male Bengals proved to be infertile, but the fertile females could be bred to domestic male cats, such as E.Mau, Domestic Shorthair, Abyssinian, Ocicat, and unpedigreed cats, as well as later generation Bengal males.

In the first crossings of leopard cat to Domestic Shorthair, the male kittens were infertile, as is the case with many hybrids. The females were usually fertile as were the male kittens in subsequent generations.

They are often difficult to breed (F1 and F2 males are always infertile and F3 males are almost always infertile), with smaller litters. Consequently, when they are occasionally sold, they are much more expensive than later generation Bengal cats.

Breeding/Reproduction Most males are infertile, though the occasional male is able to reproduce. Females are fertile. The 1st through 3rd generations of Bengals are considered "filial", and are used for breeding and specialized pet environments.

It is therefore a hybrid cat, and one would expect all the offspring to be infertile.

In fact, because the vast majority of male calicos are infertile, they are no good for breeding programs and therefore, not worth a great deal of money. Amazingly, male calicos are said to have been advertised for sale at more than $10,000.

The first three generation males are almost always infertile, though there have been the occasional, but rare F3 studs capable of reproduction.

Where the hairs are mixed together, the cat is referred to as brindled. Almost all tortie/tortie-and-white cats are female; males do occur sometimes but they are either infertile or they have a genetic aberration and do not bred true.
