Javanese Cats have a long, silky coat in a variety of colours. They are are highly intelligent, and resemble the Balinese Cat.

Javanese are very social cats which will become depressed if they are left alone too often. They are generally very playful pets, and are markedly good at jumping.

The Javanese is similar to the Balinese, but it appears in the lynx (tabby) point and tortie point patterns, as well as additional point colors such as red and cream.

The eyes are green, except in the white-coated Javanese, which has dark blue eyes.Colorpoint with dark blue eyes, in the varieties recognized for the Siamese.
Fault: White markings. Eyes more yellow than green. Tabby markings in non-agouti varieties.

Javanese have a delightful characteristic of using their paws paws like hands to open drawers and cupboards and many play 'fetch'.

Javanese also come in seal, blue, chocolate and lilac point colors similar to the Siamese and Balinese. However, these colors are not eligible for championship competion in CFA.

JAVANESE
Back to the fantasy names... the "Javanese" does not come from Java, rather it is a close relation to the Balinese (which, as you recall, doesn't come from Bali), with color schemes very similar to those of the Colorpoint Shorthair.

BREED: Javanese
General: It is very difficult to define this cat, other than to say that it is a beautiful longhaired cat very similar in appearance and temperament to the Siamese and Balinese.

Oriental and Javanese
The Oriental conforms to the requirements of the Siamese breed of cat but without the need for the Himalayan pattern. They need company and are very vocal wanting to take part in all that is happening around them.

Since the Siamese has the long haired Balinese associated with it, and the Colorpoint has the long haired Colorpoint Siamese (Javanese in some groups), it seemed only right that the Oriental Shorthair should have its own long haired variation.

Nevertheless, the CFA accept solely the four typically Siamese colors, and considers all the other colors to be traits of the Javanese cats. The traditional Balinese breed is known to be descending from Siam-imported cats.

You may see cats of basically the same type, but with different markings - these are known as Javanese, and are not recognised by the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF), though they are by the Cat Fancy Association (CFA).

such as red and cream, and patterns such as lynx (tabby) point and tortie point. However, in the Cat Fanciers' Association, the Balinese is only accepted in the four traditional Siamese colors. All other colors and patterns are considered Javanese.

If they have other color point patterns, such as Red Point and Cream Point, they are known as Javanese. However, in the UK, this separation is not made, and all color points are considered to be Balinese.
