Nebelung Cat Origin
The American foundation of this cat breed was laid by the cats Siegfried (1984) and Brunhilde (1985). Cora Cobb, the owner of Siegfried and Brunhilde, was very impressed by the beauty of her blue/grey cats.

The Nebelung cat breed is one of the new breeds of cat developed in the US in the 1980s. The first breeder of Nebelungs was Cora Cobb.
Nebelung Cat Breed Traits
The primary difference in conformation between the Nebelung and the Russian Blue is coat length, otherwise, the standards are almost identical.

The Nebelung cat is classfied as a longhair although its hair is considerably shorter than most other breeds in this category. Their tail is shorter than most but is very dense and bushy.
The Nebelung was recognized by TICA in 1987, but Russian Blue fanciers were hesitant in accepting the new breed. Moreover, they were reluctant in crossbreeding their cats, making it harder for Cobb continue the Nebelung line.

The Nebelung is a modern re-creation of the longhaired Russian Blue cat.
The Nebelung cat is a long-haired cat breed, bred to resemble the Russian Blue with a long coat. The Nebelung looks like a Russian Blue, except that the Nebelung has a long coat, whereas the Russian Blue has short coat.
A: The Nebelung has a most interesting coat color. It has a solid blue, semi-long, soft coat with a shiny, luminous misty aura all around its body. Silver tipping on the guard hairs reflects light, giving a silvery sheen to the whole body.
Cora Cobb (Nebelheim) developed the Nebelung breed and attained its recognition in TICA.

The Nebelung is a new breed, intended to resemble a long-haired Russian Blue. It is a slender cat with a medium-long, silky blue coat. This breed is not widely recognized.

Norwegian Forest Cats are Norway's natural treasure. They are a medium sized, semi-long hair cat whose personality is gentle, sweet and loving. They come in all colors except pointed colors.
Comment: The standard for the Nebelung (more common in the USA) is the same as that of the Russian Blue, but its double coat is longer and of a lighter blue-grey shade.

Although they have been used on a limited basis to create other breeds (such as the Havana Brown) or add type to a breed in creation (the Nebelung), Russian Blues themselves are shorthaired, blue cats.
