The Ocicat looks like a small wild spotted cat, but is in fact a fully domestic breed originally created by combining the Siamese, Abyssinian, and American Shorthair.

Ocicats are generally healthy cats and are not susceptible to any particular health problems. They need regular vaccination and worming programmes like any other breed of cat.

The Ocicat was an exciting, exotic development. This is one of the most unique hybrid cat breeds, having the alluring beauty of a wild cat but being an all domestic cat.

The Ocicat has spots on it which resemble common wild cats. It is however very domesticated in its temperament. It comes in a total of 12 colors including blue, lavender and silver.

The first Ocicat was exhibited in 1965, and by 1966 the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) recognized the breed. Unfortunately, the CFA made an error and listed the parent breeds as the American Shorthair and Abyssinian.

The Ocicat is very lively, highly active, curious, and playful. Despite his similarity to a small wild cat, he is very friendly, gentle, and affectionate. In fact, he will not tolerate solitude.
