Eye color for the Turkish Van cat is amber, blue or odd-eyed-in Turkey, the odd-eyed cat is the preferred but the original cats used to found the breed had amber eyes. These are large, agile cats with a substantial, powerful strength to their bodies.

Unfortunately, as in most breeds of white colored cats, partial or total deafness can occur, especially in the blue-eyed, and odd-eyed cats.

Odd-eyed cats may also have hearing deficiencies on the side of their blue eye. This breed is slow to mature and may not reach full adulthood until 3 or 4 years of age.
