Oestrus
Oestrus - period in which a queen can be successfully mated
Hunting Range ...

Oestrus - The period of heat when the Queen will mate. A Queen in Oestrus is said to be "On Heat", "On Call", "Calling", or "In Season".

Oestrus: The periodic state of sexual excitement in the female of most mammals, excluding humans, that immediately precedes ovulation and during which the female is most receptive to mating; heat. Also known as estrus.

Oestrus is the fertile period of a female cat's reproductive cycle. It is also known as 'In Heat', 'Being in Season', 'On Call' and 'Calling'
At what age does a female cat come in heat?

The signs of oestrus are: vocalization, rubbing head and neck against things, rolling around and "treading" (leg movements).

Calling is the term used to describe the period of time when the cat is in heat, or in oestrus. It is termed calling because cats in heat tend to call out for mates.

She then goes into proestrus and estrus again. If she mated and ovulated but did not become pregnant, she goes through a metestrus stage that lasts about 5-7 weeks. During this stage, she does not show signs of reproductive activity.

Anoestrus: The period of inactivity in the female cat's reproductive cycle.
Asthma: An allergic condition leading to wheezing and difficulty in breathing.
Awn Hair: Short, thick, bristly hair which lies underneath a cat's top coat.

Some breeders may require a swab to be taken from the vagina to assess the stage of oestrus and better predict time of mating with microscopic examination of vaginal cells. We recommend animals be fully vaccinated and wormed prior to mating.

If there's a particularly interesting smell around, you'll notice your kitten push her upper lip up and suck in air with her half open mouth. This organ is used specifically for detecting social smells such as when a female is in oestrus.
