Cat PathogenPeke-Faced Cat

The Peke-Faced is a docile cat that rarely gets into trouble. It prefers peaceful households over noisy ones, and enjoys lazily wasting the day away relaxing on a sofa or sleeping. However, the Peke-Faced does have a friendly and affectionate nature.

True Peke-face Persians (solid red and red tabby) generally conformed to the red Persian standard, but only 98 had been registered with the CFA beteen 1958 and 1993 (the 3 registered between 2000 and 2002 may not have been genuine Peke-face Persians).

"Peeked" "peke-faced" occur as spontaneous mutations it is said (I don't agree with this). Persian cat breeding no longer uses this mutation, it seems, if it ever existed. Not recognized outside the US (extremely flat faced as for the "extreme") ...

Around 1930, American breeders obtained an extremely short-limbed type called the "Peke face" (after the Pekingese dog). Possibly the world's most famous feline breed, the Persian was probably used to create the Birman and the British Shorthair.

The exotic shorthair exhibits in a variety of coat colors including: white, blue, black, red, cream, lilac, chocolate, chinchilla silver, shaded silver, blue chinchilla silver, blue shaded silver, chinchilla golden, peke-face red, shaded golden, ...

Red peke-face Persians, with more extreme facial conformation, appear in both the Solid and the Tabby Division. Solid chocolate and solid lavender Persians are known the Kashmir in CFF.

Breathing difficulties and skin and eye problems may also develop, particularly in the "Peke-nosed" Persian with the very flat face resembling that of a Pekinese. It is always best to be aware of all these facts before committing to a Persian cat.

The Peke-face red Persian, named after the Pekingese dog, has an even more extreme facial arrangement.

The extreme of this trend is known as the Peke-Faced. Persians are known for their luxuriant, long, thick coat. The outer coat is loosely fit and the undercoat is dense and wooly. Persians live long lives of 15 or more years.

There are two types of Himalayan cats; Traditional or Doll Face and Peke or Ultra-face. The former variety has a seal point face while the latter variety has a squashed face. These cats are sweet natured and sociable.

In the case of the Peke-faced Persian for instance, the shortness of nose in extreme cases produces breathing problems, blocked tear ducts and even difficulty in feeding.
