The Persian Longhair is a solid cat with a massive head in proportion to its body. The head is round and broad. The ears are small and rounded. They are set wide apart and low on the head blending into the rounded contour of the head.

The Persian, also known as the Persian Longhair, is an elegant, graceful, gentle breed whose most distinguishing characteristics are its remarkable coat and its unique head.

For historical reasons, the British GCCF allocate numbers to breeds and the Black Persian Longhair is registered under a different breed number, and effectively as a different breed, to the Blue Persian Longhair.

The Wikipedia authors say that in England the Persian is called the Persian longhair or Longhair. The GCCF website refers to them as Persians, however.

In Britain, it is called the Longhair or Persian Longhair . A Persian without an established and registered pedigree is classed as a domestic longhair cat.

These general findings are repeated again and again - Siamese cats and their relatives are highly talkative while longhaired cats, not only the Persian Longhairs, tend to be quiet.

The breed is based on the concept of Britain's pure chinchilla longhairs, a documented breed of English origin (In Britain, cat fancies call Persians "Longhairs", "Persian Longhairs", "Chinchilla Longhairs" etc; ...

Although a profuse, dense coat it does not require as much grooming as the Persian Longhair. The breed is acceptable in almost any coat colour and pattern, the best known being the classic tabby-and-white.
