Originally called the "EnglishR ex", until a second form of rex Cat was discovered in nearby Devon. Sometimes referred to in the popular press as the "Poodle Cat" or "Coodle".

The Devon Rex is sometimes called the "poodle cat", due to its coat, and the fact that it wags its tail when content. These are very friendly, outgoing cats.
