After WWI the British SH breed had declined in numbers and the GCCF (the premier UK cat association) declared that only 3rd generation offspring of matings between Persians and BSH could be shown in cat shows. WWII reduced the numbers of the BSH too.

" American Shorthairs are often selected as "Best Cat in Show," and each year more than a hundred become Grand Champions, Grand Premiers and Distinguished Merit cats, as well as regional and national level winners.

Award of Merit: as for Challenge, but for adult neuters only. Five such awards are required to achieve "Premier" title. The process is repeated for "Grand Premier".

BooBoo, staff member of the FBRL, is a brown classic tabby Scottish Fold and Grand Premier in CFA.
Associations: The Scottish Fold is accepted by all major North American cat registries and the Australian Cat Federation.
