Rex cats, such as the Devon Rex, Cornish Rex and this newer type, the Selkirk Rex, are all distinguished by their unique hair. Each of the rex varieties has curly hair follicles, giving the appearance of a wavy coat.

Devon Rex cats are commonly found in shows and due to their rarity can fetch a high selling price. They have relatively small heads with abnormally large ears.

Devon rex cats have been compared to pixies and aliens from space because of their huge bat-like ears, large window-to-the-soul eyes, and ethereal, otherworldly body style.

Devon Rex cats are relatively easy to take care of. They do shed a little, but only rarely cause problems for people with allergies. Grooming is not really required other than stroking their fur to ease any loose fur.

A German Rex cat is very friendly and quickly makes contact with its owner. It is lively, playful and intelligent. It is the master of all acrobatic tricks, which it repeats again and again with huge enjoyment.

The Selkirk Rex, the third Rex cat to appear on the North American show bench, is markedly different from the two Rex breeds that preceded it - the Cornish Rex and the Devon Rex. Both the Cornish and the Devon are fine boned and svelte-bodied.
