Poised as a cat of royalty, such names have been bestow upon it as the Palace Cat, the Royal Siamese, and the Royal Cat of Siam. Old stories tell that when members of the royalty died, this special cat was placed in the burial tomb.

In the early days in Britain, they were called the "Royal Cat of Siam, although later research revealed no organized royal breeding program in Siam.

Mr. Harrison-Weir founded the National Cat Club 1887. He described (I shall presume, at or around the 1890s) the Siamese cat as the "Royal Cat of Siam". He said that the Siamese was "widely different from other short-haired varieties".

The beautiful light-colored cat with the striking color points in seal, lilac, chocolate and blue made his Western Hemisphere debut in Victorian England, where he was touted as the Royal Cat of Siam, what we now call Thailand.

The Seal Point Siamese became known as the Royal Cat of Siam and could only be obtained by special favor of the King.

This stunning creature is probably the best known of all pedigree breeds of cat and its deep, blue eyes are certainly a stand-out feature of this intelligent animal. It was known for hundreds of years in its own country as the "Royal Cat of Siam".
