Show Standard: Also known as standard of point, a term referring to the description of the ideal cat of a particular breed against which actual cats are judged.

Many show standard Snowshoes have a white inverted "V" shaped marking over the nose and muzzle. The markings that earned this breed its name are, of course, the white markings on all four paws, mittens on the front paws and boots on the rear paws.

In 1966 the show standard was again changed, now stating that the Siamese type was undesirable.

The non-pointed Persian colors resulted from additional breeding a Himalayan to a Persian. The "Himi" follows the same cat show standards as the Persian in CFF as to their type and are shown in separate color classes from the Persian.

Eventually breeders made a co-ordinated attempt to return to the pre-war characteristics of the breed, and in 1965 the show standard was changed to state specifically that the Siamese-type cat was undesirable in the Russian Blue.
