The Siamese cats cat are considered to be a shorthair cat breed. The coat is short. glossy and fine in texture. The medium-sized eyes are almond-shaped and slightly slanting toward the nose. The eye color is a clear blue.

The Siamese cat has strikingly large ears and attractive baby blue eyes. Its sleek, slim figure is accentuated by its short, fine coat with long tapering lines.

The Siamese cat is thought to be the ultimate in feline beauty with piercing blue eyes and its accentuated, dainty and fine boned build. It has a slender body and a long pointed head, with large ears.

The Siamese cat should be a beautifully balanced animal, with head, ears and neck carried on a long svelte body supported on fine legs and feet with a tail in proportion.

The Siamese cat is very popular with cat lovers. Their light color coats, with darker "points" on the face, paws & tail, along with their sleek bodies, gives them a striking appearance.

The first breed club, the Siamese Cat Club, was created in England in 1901. The "royal" Siamese thus began its rich career. In 1890, the first Siamese cats were introduced to the United States.

Veley (who went on to be co-founder of the Siamese Cat Club in 1901). The cats were shown at the Crystal Palace in 1885, and the following year another pair (with kittens) were imported by a Mrs. Vyvyan and her sister.

General: The Balinese is a Siamese cat with a longer, flowing coat. The Balinese is a graceful, svelte, muscular and fine-boned cat. The coat should be medium length, close lying and feathery, giving the cat a refined, elegant look.

Although sucking on wool or other fabrics may be seen occasionally in any cat, the problem is most commonly seen in Burmese and Siamese cats, or Oriental mix breeds.

The Balinese and Javanese may be referred to as long-haired Siamese cats. They have the long, slender, Oriental body type and long, wedge-shaped head like the Siamese, but have a long silky coat with no dense undercoat.

It is generally accepted that the breed originated as a spontaneous longhaired mutation of the Siamese cat.

A British re-creation of the breed using Siamese cats is now called the Oriental Spotted Tabby, a type of Oriental Shorthair. The coat of the Egyptian Mau appears in only three colours - silver, bronze and a shaded black smoke.

The eyes of the Siamese cat appear red in the dark; the retinas lack pigment, and the color is provided by blood vessels. A cat is very alert to any movement, but it probably cannot distinguish color.
