The Snowshoe has a smooth but short coat, which is colored blue, lilax, chocolate or seal point -- "point" is in reference to a pale body color with relatively darker extremities; i.e., the face, ears, feet and tail.

General: The Snowshoe is a medium cat that combines the heftiness of its domestic shorthair ancestors with the length of its oriental ancestors. It is a well balanced cat overall, firm and muscular.

Snowshoes are born all white, and the points darken with age.
Fault: Head too long. Muzzle too broad. Small, rounded ears. Small, rounded, very slanted eyes. Body very long and frail or too short and massive. Thin tail. Knotted, fine-boned legs.

but may only be shown in the NEW BREED and COLOUR classes.

Snowshoe kittens are born totally white. The point coloring begins to develop in a few weeks. The tail, legs, head and ears darken as the kitten ages. The body is a lighter color ranging from a light cream color with the shading darkening with age.
