Umbilical hernia
A lump on the belly where the navel cord was attached (navel), which is caused by a weakness of the abdominal wall, which allows the intestines to protrude.

Umbilical hernia: Hernia of fat and sometimes the intestines in the region of the naval.
Undercoat: Soft and downy hairs next to the skin.
Undershot jaw: Upper jaw protruding abnormally.

Cats with skeletal deformities (e.g. saddleback, flattened chest, protrusion of Sternum or Xiphisternum) or any skeletal irregularity which is not included in the breed standard.
FAULTS PRECLUDING A CERTIFICATE ...

The kittens of some lines have displayed large umbilical hernias which have required surgery.

Patellar luxation and umbilical hernias have also been reported in this breed. Some queens molt ('blow their coats') during the breeding season and/or during pregnancy.

Russian breeders report that some lines have a predisposition towards umbilical hernias, a problem that can be surgically repaired. Kinked tails are occasionally found, but do not affect the well being of the cat.

The average Traditional Snowshoe lives between 10 to 14 years of age. They have few genetic defects and most of those are minor, such as kinked tails, crossed eyes and an umbilical hernia now and then.
