Valley Fever in Cats: An Overview
'Valley Fever' is a common term for Coccidioidomycosis, which is an uncommon but extremely severe and potentially fatal disease caused by the fungus, Coccidioides immitis.

 


Coccidioidomycosis is a fungal infection, often called "Valley Fever," which is more common in the Southwestern United States. The fungus, Coccidioides immitis, can cause mild to severe respiratory disease in cats, dogs, and people.
