Carbohydrates are molecules made of hydrogen carbon and oxygen they include starches, sugar and fibre. They are the body's main source of energy and the first that the body uses.

Carbohydrates should make up 50% to 60% of your calories. The majority of your calories should come from complex carbohydrates. Less then ten percent of your calories should come from refined sugars.
