Some detox diets advertise that you can lose up to 10 pounds a week, which can be unhealthy and downright dangerous. Most health professionals recommend aiming for a slow and steady weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds per week instead.

Not all detox diets are created equal and not all are considered safe and healthy. Many detox diets out there emphasise a quick weight loss usually because of an abnormally low intake of calories.

I'll admit, Detox diets might help kick-start your weight loss program, but just realize that they are not a quick fix to your health problems. The long-term fix is dumping the Western Lifestyle.

Natural liver detox diets (liver cleansing)
Using a natural detox diet to remove toxins and poisons from your body might sound like a good idea.

Most detox diets then allow for a slow re-introduction of other foods, gradually. The diets generally restrict foods from your diet that are said to have harmful toxins.

Generally following these natural detox diets described here are appropriate for most people. The watch words are to go slow, enjoy your food and to drink no more than one cup of any kind of new tea per day.

You should be weary of detox diets that force you to drink a special juice for a few days. When you take in such a small amount of calories, toxins actually start to build up in your body, they don't magically get flushed out by the juice.
