Generic Drug - A drug whose patent has expired thus enabling it to be manufactured by any company. Phentermine is an example of a Generic Drug.
Generic Drug- Drugs which have outlived their protection patent and which may be manufactured by any company. An example of this would be phentermine which is a generic of brand name fastin.
The generic drugs are often made by the same manufacturer as the name-brand medication - the extra price is in the packaging and advertising.
