All trials except yohimbine ointment gave significantly more girth loss from the treated thigh. Chemistry panel showed no toxicity. Theophylline was undetectable and patch testing was negative.
Stimulating herbs such as guarana and yohimbine can cause anxiety and dizziness. One dangerous example is ephedra, which can have adverse effects such as nervousness, irregular heartbeat, and can be deadly in some cases.
Additional risky supplements in the ephedrine class include androstenedione and other “prohormone” precursors to testosterone, yohimbine, and products that contain kava.
