Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis is an umbrella term that describes diseases caused by abnormal deposits in the body of the protein amyloid. These rare and incurable diseases are more common in people over the age of 40 years, for reasons unknown.

Amyloidosis- familial visceral
Overview
A rare genetic disorder involving widespread amyloidosis (abnormal buildup of amyloid protein in tissues) which tends the affect the kidneys severely.

Amyloidosis, primary: A disorder of plasma cells (special white blood cells that produce antibodies), this is one of a group of diseases (called amyloidosis) in which protein deposits (amyloid) accumulate in one or more organ systems in the body.

About Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis develops when amyloid (pronounced am'-i-loyd) proteins inexplicably build up in organs or tissue, including the heart, liver, kidneys, spleen, gastrointestinal tract and nervous system.

What is Amyloidosis?
Amyloidosis refers to a group of disease where there is abnormal deposition of an insoluble protein in various body tissues and organs.

Amyloidosis is any of a group of disparate conditions characterized by extracellular deposition of various insoluble proteins.

Amyloidosis can affect different organs in different people, and there are many types of amyloid. Amyloidosis frequently affects the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract.

Amyloidosis is a progressive, incurable, metabolic disease characterized by abnormal deposits of protein in one or more organs or body systems.

Amyloidosis is a disease in which an abnormal protein called amyloid accumulates in body tissues and organs. The protein deposits can be in a single organ or dispersed throughout the body.

Amyloidosis - secondary systemic
Definition of Secondary systemic amyloidosis:
Secondary systemic amyloidosis is a disorder in which abnormal proteins build up in tissues and organs. Clumps of the abnormal proteins are called amyloids.

Amyloidosis refers to a family of diseases in which there is a buildup of clumps of proteins called amyloids in body tissues and organs. These proteins slowly replace normal tissue, leading to failure of the involved organ.
